Halbrook: Motorists have two more weeks to take advantage of Tollway “amnesty” program

Through the end of the year drivers with unpaid roadway tolls in Illinois can wipe out the overdue charges for $3 per toll. State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) today reminded local motorists that the TOLLING 2020 program that runs through December 30 can save those with unpaid tolls 85% over fines previously assessed on unpaid tolls.

“This is certainly welcome news for some families already facing COVID-related hardships this holiday season.  By taking advantage of this amnesty program, previous fines of $20 or even $50 can be erased for a mere $3 per toll,” Rep. Halbrook said.

According to the Illinois Tollway Authority, drivers have already cleared more than 140,000 outstanding violation notices at the reduced $3 rate. Those drivers collectively have received nearly $90 million in relief of fines due to the program.

Those who want to take advantage of the reduced rates to pay unpaid tolls, or to learn more about TOLLING 2020 can visit the Illinois Tollway’s website at www.illinoistollway.com.
