Rep. Halbrook: So-Called “Criminal Justice Reforms” Endanger our Communities

Statement of State Representative Brad Halbrook on the signing into law today of House Bill 3653, “Criminal Justice Reforms” passed in the final hours of the 101st General Assembly’s lame duck session in January.

“This legislation is another example of Chicago running roughshod over the rest of our state. These so-called reforms Governor Pritzker signed into law today make it much harder for law enforcement to do its job – keeping violent criminals off our streets,” said State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville). “Families in our local communities know we need to support our first responders that work to protect us, not make their jobs harder and even more dangerous.”
