Halbrook: Democrat Legislative Supermajority Continues to put Self Service Above Public Service

A Federal Jury today found all defendants in the “Com-Ed Four” corruption trial guilty of bribery-related charges. Rep. Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) issued the following statement:

“This trial has provided the public a window into the policies and practices that have earned Illinois its reputation as one of the most corrupt states in the nation. With former House Speaker Michael J. Madigan’s trial still ahead there is much more to come. Despite what we are witnessing, the Democratic leaders in the House and Senate refuse to get serious about rooting out the culture of corruption in state government. Every taxpayer in Illinois should be outraged that the Democrat supermajority in the General Assembly continues to put political insiders and self-dealing above genuine public service,” Rep. Halbrook said.
