Rep. Halbrook today joined the Illinois Pork Producers in honoring the Burgener Family from Moweaqua, named the Illinois Pork Producers Association 2024 Family of the Year.
“Pork producers are a vital part of our agricultural industry. The Burgeners have been raising hogs along with other livestock and crops on their Moweaqua farm since the 1960’s. They’re a multi-generational success story, and great ambassadors for the Illinois pork industry,” Rep. Halbrook said.
According to the IPPA, the Burgener family currently maintains 800 sows, and farms 3,000 acres. They were named IPPA family of the Year at the Illinois Pork Expo. This week, Rep. Halbrook introduced House Resolution 565 recognizing the family’s achievements on behalf of Illinois agriculture.
“It’s always great to see that the true spirit of the family farm is alive and well in downstate Illinois,” Rep. Halbrook concluded.
