Nighttime patching on I-57/70, ramps begins Sept. 30 The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a 6-mile patching project on the six lanes of Interstate 57/70 and the three interchanges through Effingham will begin Monday, Sept. 30. Work will occur between 7 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., and one lane of traffic in each direction will remain open on Interstate 57/70. Orange barrels, arrow and message boards will help direct traffic. All interstate ramps will remain open with orange barrels and arrow boards directing traffic. One road closure for about a day will occur on Evergreen Avenue, west of Keller Drive. A marked detour route will be in place directing traffic north onto Keller Drive to Ford Avenue, which will bring traffic back to Evergreen Avenue. Motorists are encouraged to follow the traffic control devices and posted detour and should allow for extra travel time. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment. |
