The Effingham, Illinois-based CEFS Economic Opportunity Corporation will receive a $75,000 state grant to help with adult literacy efforts, State Representative Brad Halbrook announced today. The literacy grants are awarded by the Illinois Secretary of State in his role as State Librarian.
“The adult literacy grants help adults across the state who read below a 9th grade level improve their reading and writing skills as well as basic math – skills everyone needs to put them on the path to better career opportunities and a better future,” Rep. Halbrook said.
Rep. Halbrook said the help is provided by trained, volunteer tutors.
CEFS Economic Opportunity Corporation serves families in Christian, Clay, Effingham, Fayette, Montgomery, Moultrie, and Shelby counties striving for greater economic opportunity and self-sufficiency,
