Halbrook: If You See Lights, Move Over

Scott’s Law is Illinois’ Move Over law, this measure requires drivers to move over and slow down when passing any vehicle with hazard or emergency lights activated. This simple action can save lives. You can help keep first responders, road workers, and other motorists safe by following Scott’s Law.

“If you see lights, move over,” said Rep. Halbrook. “This is a simple act that makes a large impact and helps to ensure the safety of everyone involved. In 2024, Illinois saw 27 crashes due to Scott’s Law violations, a number that should be zero.”
