ILLINOIS – Rep. Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) is demanding answers as Illinois families face rising energy costs, with some households now spending as much as one-fifth of their budget on utility bills.
During Public Utilities committee discussion on March 18th, Rep. Halbrook pressed lawmakers on what is driving those increases and raised concerns that state energy policies may be contributing to the burden on working families.
“Right. But you kind of said you think it is because of the policy, but then you said it’s not because of the policy. So what would you attribute these increasing costs to? I I just want to be clear of why we think this is going up…”
