Rep. Halbrook Opposes Democrat Gun Ban Targeting Glock Handguns

SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) issued the following statement after House Democrats advanced legislation in committee that would restrict the sale of certain popular handgun models, including Glock pistols:

“Once again, Illinois Democrats are targeting law-abiding gun owners instead of focusing on violent criminals. This proposal is another attack on the constitutional rights of responsible citizens who follow the law and safely own firearms for self-defense, sport, and protection of their families.

Banning firearms that are commonly owned by millions of Americans will do nothing to reduce crime or make our communities safer. Criminals do not follow gun laws. I voted NO because Illinois families deserve policies that address violent crime—not more restrictions on responsible gun owners.”

Rep. Halbrook remains committed to protecting Second Amendment rights and supporting policies that hold violent offenders accountable.
