SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) issued the following statement after Governor Pritzker visited Effingham County to survey storm damage:
“Today, I joined local officials as Governor Pritzker visited Effingham County to assess the serious storm damage in our area. We are grateful there were no reported fatalities locally, but the damage to homes, businesses, farms, and property is significant.
I appreciate the work of our first responders, emergency management officials, local leaders, and volunteers who have been working around the clock to keep people safe and begin the recovery process.
The state disaster declaration is an important first step toward making additional resources available, including potential federal assistance. While there are still many details to be determined, my office will continue working with local and state officials to help ensure affected communities receive the support they need.
Please continue to pray for the families impacted across Effingham County and Central Illinois as recovery efforts move forward.”
