SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) is asking residents of the 107th District and surrounding communities in Central Illinois to share how Illinois’ high property taxes are impacting their families, farms, businesses, and communities.
Throughout the summer of 2026, Rep. Halbrook will be collecting property tax testimonials from constituents to help highlight the real-world impact of Illinois’ broken property tax system and strengthen efforts to pursue meaningful policy reforms in Springfield.
“Illinois families pay the highest property taxes in the nation, and the burden keeps getting heavier,” said Halbrook. “Property taxes are making it harder for families to stay in their homes, for farmers to stay competitive, and for businesses to grow. I want to hear directly from the people who are living with these challenges every day.”
Residents can submit their stories online at:
Rep. Halbrook says he plans to share his findings with the Governor’s Office to continue advocating for policies that provide lasting property tax relief and make Illinois a more affordable place to live and work.
