SHELBYVILLE… State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) met with Pana Elementary School students who came to the Capitol on May 13th for Students for Innovation: Advocacy Day. The event is hosted by Illinois Digital Educators Alliance and works to bring together students in kindergarten through 12th grade to advocate for the importance of funding education to support students in creative, problem-solving, and future-ready learning roles.

“It was great to meet with Kim Hahnenkamp’s class and see their final project,” said Rep. Halbrook. “I enjoyed speaking with the students and hearing about their passion for innovation in the classroom and seeing how engaged they are with advocacy for technology education. This group of students has a bright future ahead of them.”

The group spent the day meeting with students, educators, and lawmakers to showcase their hard work and continue to advocate for technology education. The group was led by Kim Hahnenkamp, a K-5 Technology Integration Specialist at Pana Elementary.
