SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) released the following statement after House Democrats failed to directly answer questions raised during Wednesday’s floor debate on HB3465.
HB3465 would require construction sites to provide separate spaces for individuals needing to pump breast milk or manage menstruation. Rep. Halbrook raised concerns that the bill’s language lacks clarity and could lead to confusion in how the law is interpreted and applied.
Rep. Halbrook said:
“This bill is another example of Democrats putting politics ahead of common sense. Illinois families want lawmakers focused on lowering costs, improving public safety, and addressing the serious challenges facing our state. Instead, we are debating legislation with unclear language that avoids basic biological reality. I asked the sponsor a simple question during debate, and it should not have been difficult to answer.”
